If you do not want to install NJStar [which sometimes goes into conflict with your other programs running], you can go to this website and obtain Chinese characters. Then you can copy and paste into other applications such as browsers, word, excel, powerpoint, etc.
For example:
(a) If I want to type 廢苦滋燃:
(b) Type "fai" and select "4" to get 廢, then type "fu" and select "4" get 苦, then type "ji" and press "PgDn" 2 times and select "9" to get 滋 and type "yin" and press PgDn and select "0" to get 燃.
(c) Select all the characters and copy and paste and you have 廢苦滋燃.
The downside of it is that you have to be online.
