先此聲明: 相片不是今早影的; 應該是兩星期之前影的.
不用上 Seekers, 可以返大堂崇拜就自然有所期待. 想不到今早的 p&w 竟然如此 crappy:
1. You (the worship leader) shouldn't have made the congregation stand throughout the entire p&w session. Boy! That was a whole 15 minutes.
Mind you, we have a sizeable number of seniors in our congregation. They cannot stand for too long.
This mistake has been committed by me; but by a verteran worship leader? C'mon! Couldn't you tell us to sit down after the first congregational hymn?
2. "Teaching" new hymns during p&w?
p&w 顧名思義 is a time to worship God and give praise to Him. I am not saying that new hymns should not be sung during p&w time, but you should not have used a time dedicated to God and misused it as "teaching time". I think it is very unrespectful for God.
There are ways to address to this issue. Here is my suggestion: Why don't you give the new hymn to the choir (as you will very likely not have praise teams next year) and train them. When it comes to Sunday, tell the congregation that there is a new hymn (this may arouse the congregation's curiosity) to be sung. Instead of using the word "teach", why don't you say, "let the choir sing the first stanza and congregation please join in from the second stanza" or something like that.
Congregational hymn should be quite easy to follow. The key should not be too high or too low; and the tempo and beat should be quite easy-going. Otherwise, the hymn should not have been chosen for congregational purpose.
Again, even I who does not often lead singspiration know this, why you being the veteran don't?
Worship Leader 本來有一個很美的職份, 就是帶領會眾進入敬拜, 除卻難阻去朝見上帝. 令大家可以有一個 life transforming 的敬拜 experience. 誰知今早這一役反而成為了敬拜上帝的難阻. 多 ironic.
Who am I to judge? But I think from some of our worship leaders, our p&w is really going downhill. I don't want to see this. And I believe God doesn't not want to see this and accept this sort of "watered-down" living sacrifice to Him too.
